Houston, where every day is "Take your pet to work" day!

One of the many fun parts of my job is watching the pets enjoy what I have found for them. Here was a delivery/visit this week:)

My buddy Kat owns Copperfield Grooming, has pets of her own and does a fair amount of rescue. This results in frequent shopping at Pet Stuff Resale. As she is a regular customer, I look for stuff for her on all of my shopping jaunts(I can do this for you as well)
With my cell camera I just text her a picture and have about a 95% "yes" answer in seconds. As I know her pets pretty well, I know what Peaches, the 117 lb Irish Wolfhound, likes. She loves her new toy. I also know to call every new squishy toy a frog, makes it easier for her.
She never tears them up.                   She said "well worth $10, thanks"
This scratchy wheel was perfect for some older foster kittens Kat has at home.  8.00

This cat tree will be good for the kittens when they get a little older and more coordinated.
It was 60.00

I could not have paid for better advertising; the MINUTE I put this on the floor, this baby girl POUNCED on it.

Then her littermate joined in:) This was 11.00
Unusual to have female orange tabbies, both of these are girls and would love to be adopted together.  Theres one in the tunnel. Prepare to be interrogated by Kat (knowing your vets phone number by heart is a help) at Copperfield Grooming at 281-463-2267

All of these 4 large dogs beds totaled about 50.00 and are from last weeks delivery. This precious little girl is spayed, heartworm negative and looking for her new home. (This was not a staged photo)

This was and will be again, a baby tub, great for small pups and dogs.
It is currently a kitten bed with blankies in it. 14.00 at Pet Stuff Resale
Copperfield Grooming is located at 7710 Cherry Park Drive, Suite Q, Houston, 77095. This is right off Hwy 6, look for the Burger King. 281-463-2267
(Oh yea, she doesn't know I did the whole blog about her furkids)

2 unusual dog items and a cat themed blanket at Pet Stuff Resale

Big dogs love these beds, many prefer to nap in an elevated area and toddler beds are perfect! This one is in very good condition.

The mattress is a Simmons BeautyRest "Elegance"

                                 60.00 at Pet Stuff Resale

53"X80"
This blanket is actually brown and light tan. This looks like a postcard is a picture taken on my cell phone camera. It looked very good on my bed:)
14.00

The other dog item is a white metal crib on rollers that would be great for either foster puppies or post surgery dogs that need to stay quiet. Geriatric dogs that are too fragile for mingling with more active dogs but still want to be part of the gang would also do well in this crib. (Picture at the end of the blog shows the bed folded up w/o the mattress and base.) It is 24"x39" and the bar spacing is 2", so little heads cannot get stuck in them.(Kitten heads could get thru them).
This is one of the neatest things to ever come into Pet Stuff Resale; the rolling makes it easy to move around, it's easy to keep clean, it's multi purpose. Wait, it also folds up! The bottom removes and it can be used with or without the mattress. Little paws cannot climb the smooth metal.

Many thanks to my associate Nancy who found the 2 beds, she ferret outs some neat stuff while looking for books. Talk about networking; she adopted a greyhound from me in 1988!

Please subscribe to this blog if you haven't already and forward it to interested buds, as well as letting me know if you no longer want to receive it. I do not want to be intrusive. A portion of sales benefits rescue animals.

Cat, kitten items in at Pet Stuff Resale

I wish I could get more items in for cats, so happy to have a few for all of the cat lovers out there!

These large capacity litter boxes are great for several reasons. The hood keeps most dogs from snacking on the contents(gross, but it happens) as well as keeps litter from flying all over the place. The ridges on the ramp and the ramp itself also reduces the amount of litter escaping.
As are all items from Pet Stuff Resale, these have been disinfected and are 20.00 each.

EmeryBoard scratching pad, looks to be new, my cats literally pounced on it when I put one down, no sniffing around, getting used to a new thing, just POUNCE and scratch!  8.00

Ok, small dogs would like this pink bed as well, but it just looked "feline Princess" to me; inner pad is removeable. 6.00
This woven bed could also be for small dogs but I removed  a cat from it at the thrift store, so know cats would like it as well!  9.00

I will have all of these items and more  near the Greater Good, I 10 and Dairy Ashford in West Houston, Sat and Sunday-12-4. 817-480-8400-Houston cell

12 foot wide pet gate and a 3 ft tall shoe as a pet bed?

Ok, I am exaggerating, it's only 33" tall.

This is one of the neatest finds I have ever come across in 14 years of business! It can be used for either cats or dogs.

This gate attaches to either side if a door way and can be angled to accommodate various lenghts up to 12 feet. It is 29 in tall and has a pass thru gate. Additionally, small dogs cannot climb it as it has no horizontal bars.  New these run about 150.00, at Pet Stuff Resale it is 75.00.

The shoe is strong enough for Mike, but surprisingly light and easy to carry.
Possibly the neatest thing is that the cover unzips for washing.

Stainless steel cages in at Pet Stuff Resale

Stainless steel is such a time saver in the pet world. It cleans faster than plastic(I have LOTS of experience
in this area!) , rarely stains and lasts longer than any other material I have ever seen.
This cage is intended for cats or small dogs and two are available. They measure 18x18x32. The picture looks a little distorted.
45.00 each

Cat Heaven at Jester Plaza Vet Clinic

The headline and pictures could be the entire blog post! This is the neatest set up I have ever seen
for cats and a great "chill out" room for them. This also doubles as an exam room for exotics. I think it also belongs in cat boarding facilities. Is kitty day care next? For a room like this, cats would travel!

This set up was designed by Tricia Burda, wife
of Dr Steve Burda of Jester Plaza Vet Clinic.
I was so amazed but not suprised by her talent.
She could market the plans for this set up.
I sat in a chair and just soaked up the neatness
of this cat heaven.
The yellow box even has a hidden door to accommodate a litter box.
Those are real tree branch pieces up there also..
Yes, that is a kitty door at the bottom.

Wouldn't ferals have a great time in here? They would never get caught again:)

Complying with Internet rules, I am disclosing that I  have accepted no compensation for this endorsement. In fact the Burdas don't even know I am posting it.

JPVC is near 18th and TC Jester just outside the Loop in Houston, Tx. 713-869-0202

Easy way to help cats and kittens at BARC in Houston

BARC(animal control) is in dire need of disposable litter boxes and newspapers; they are using paper plates
temporarily for litter pans. The cardboard bottoms of canned pet food are perfect for litter boxes, small and
disposable, so keep an eye out at pet stores. If you can snag any from grocery stores before they are crushed, that would be great. Of course, not just pet food ones there, any cardboard base/tray will work:)
(Don't get me started on why permanent litter boxes are not used.)

BARC is also in need of newspapers so please save those as well.

I will be happy to be  a drop off point; since I sell in front of the Greater Good every weekend 12-4, you
can bring there or email me for alternative connecting.

I like projects like this where we can make a difference and not open our checkbooks!

Cleaning cat trees at 4 am?

Yes, I was just outside in my driveway doing exactly that! I was excited about it; a load of cat trees when it is rare to get even one in the secondary market. Ok, I wasn't quite that excited to be out there but was wide awake and wanted to put my time to good use. I grabbed Kirby the cocker to give him some out time and multitask also, I confess. Too bad none of my neighbors were up to get a photo!

Between the truck dome light and a subdivision street light I could get quite a bit done. It's a tiny community with lots of pine trees and a couple of small lakes, so the breezes are quite nice, great working environment. (This is just another of the many benefits of working for ones self.)

This 5 and 6 foot cat trees are in great shape and are in neutral colors. The support piece of wood(the trunk) is all one piece, not two pieces nailed together, which is important for stability. It also speaks to the quality of workmanship, no cutting corners on this cat furniture. They are priced between 100.00 and 125.00.

One of the most important aspects of Pet Stuff Resale is product cleanliness, so these trees need to be isolated for 90 days, until 12/9/09, as a precaution. There is no way to disinfect all the way thru the carpet, nor is leaving them outside adequate. FIP is the longest lasting germie affecting cats; even though it is not common, I don't take any chances.

Clients buying one of these neat trees and getting a picture of their cat(s) on them will get it posted here with their bio.

Cats WILL use a recycled litter box!

Questions I am asked frequently are "Will a cat use a litter box another cat has used
and is it sanitary?"
The answer to both questions is "Definitely". While I won't show a used litter box actually in use:), I do foster cats and have never purchased a new one. I do spend
quite a bit of time soaking litter boxes in clorox and then in vinegar. I have never had a cat balk at using a used one. I also make sure not to use or sell one that is not in good shape in the first place.
Covered litter boxes usually cost 10.00-12.00 at Pet Stuff Resale.

Kitty Walk strollers are for the dogs, say chihuahuas

Of course this wonderful invention was intended for cats to be able to go outside without "going outside", but small dogs love them also. I would say up to about 15 lbs; it is pretty strong.
It was impossible to get an entire chihuahua body to stay up front in the stroller long enough to get a good picture, but they do love these! What's not to like says the "rodent" crew at my house? The pet is protected, can't escape and a human does all of the work.

These are also neat as the carriage(basket) part is removeable and it all folds up nicely. The
door features 3 strong metal twist closures so no chance of accidental escape due to vibration.

I have seen these on the Internet at 130.00 but now 65.00 at Pet Stuff Resale.

Booda Dome Litter box the best all around litter box-15.00 at Pet Stuff Resale

The 2 underwhelmed photography subjects are being fostered for Citizens for Animal Protection. The flame point male on the left is alive due to Craigslist. When
I went to his owners trailer park to buy an item she casually said she was going to have to leave him behind, outside, when she moved, His story is archived somewhere in early 08.
The female on the right is a 10 year old whose owner died and a family member immediately
brought her in because she was hostile-yea, as I would be if my owner died and my world turned
upside down. She is now very friendly and has lost a few pounds. Both are available for adoption individually.

This is my favorite litter box for many reasons.

All sizes of cats can use it successfully, from kittens to obese
geriatrics. I've shown the top off
on the right; I recommend beginning that way so the cat can get used to it before encountering the dome.

It is large capacity, great for multiple cats. It has no corners, which inhibit cleaning (vinegar is
the best thing for litter boxes, especially with lime build up). Litter is contained much better
than any other box I have ever used; very little even comes down the ramp. Cats don't tend to lay in it as they have in my other boxes, both clean and dirty.
It is also great to keep "snacking" dogs out of the box, although one of my friends
commented that it doesn't apply to chihuahuas. They think she bought one for them
to go in, go out, go in, go out!

The best part? At Pet Stuff Resale, it costs about half of what you'd pay at a pet store and of course as everything I sell, has been disinfected.
