Five small dog napping niches for under $10 at Pet Stuff Resale

This 17x17 canvas cube holds its shape after being jumped on, so small dogs still feel elevated, an all important factor! The base is plastic so it stays cleaner. It also has a pouch for holdinng treats and toys. 9.00

This hideaway is held in place by velcro so can fold up for transport to your weekend swankienda. Gives small dogs a place to hide, yet watch all that is going on. About 12x17, it has a removeable fleecy pad. 8.00

These mummy sleeping bags(their real description) are addictive for small, burrowing dogs. They can be used unzipped  for several dogs or folded over for just one dog. The pink one is about 4 ft long, the blue one a tad shorter and is from REI . I currently have 3 sleeping bags on  my bed to reduce encroachment skirmishes.  8.00

Your dog could be here!
This vinyl cube also holds its shape when a dog jumps into it and is a little lighter in weight than the canvas one, but the same size.  7.00

All of these items have been consumer tested by various rodents at my house, mostly chihuahuas, and meet their admittedly low standards. If it's soft, they are happy. I can vouch for durabiity and cleanliness!

A reminder that if you take a picture of your pet in/on any itme purchased form Pet Stuff Resale, I will feature them in a future blog.

We will NOT look at the camera, we made a pact!

These precious babies were turned into a shelter together as strays. They are all the same age, about 18 months old and the two rough coated ones are obviously litter mates and the 3rd smaller one may be as well. They are all altered and heartworm negative. I have been fostering them for about 6 months as they had no social skills, but I have yet to come up with good names; Eenie, Meeny and Moe didn't work, nor did Larry, Moe and Curly. Don't even suggest Huey, Louie and Dewey! The 2 rough coated ones are a male and female at 8 lbs and the other one, a 5 pounder, I call HoneyB after her lookalike Honey the Pibble. I would like to place the pair together and all 3 will need patient homes as they are still a tad spooky. Of course al adult homes are needed in ths case. They are crate trained and skilled at both burrowing and snuggling. They are also fine with other dogs, even bigger ones.

Stainless steel cages in at Pet Stuff Resale

Stainless steel is such a time saver in the pet world. It cleans faster than plastic(I have LOTS of experience
in this area!) , rarely stains and lasts longer than any other material I have ever seen.
This cage is intended for cats or small dogs and two are available. They measure 18x18x32. The picture looks a little distorted.

Multipurpose Plastic Play Yard popular request at Pet Stuff Resale

This plastic play yard is even more versatile than a wire exercise pen. The hole configuration of the walls reduces climbing, very common in chihuahuas and yorkies. It can also be used for small kittens and rabbits and guinea pigs.

This is 26' tall and each panel is 33", so 17 linear ft total.
At the big box pet stores it runs 79.00 to 89.00.
At Pet Stuff Resale it is 55.00
The 2 litter mates Mandy and Pandy are still up for adoption. At  just under 2 years, they are 15 lbs each.

Wheel Away transports dogs in style, saves your back

The Wheel Away is one of the sturdiest doggie "totes" I have ever evaluated. In fact, it is so conducive
to being rolled on the ground that I do not recommend it to be used as a back pack, for which it is also
made. This is the medium size, up to maybe 15 lbs. (I never trust manufacturer recommendations due to experience, I always test with real animals.) Tugboat weighs 12 lbs.
The materials are canvas and mesh. It does zip all the way to enclose the dog entirely if wanted.
This is in excellent condition. I do not think it was ever even used.
$45.00 at Pet Stuff Resale

The hesitant model Tugboat is my own dog. I fostered his litter (during Hurricane Ike!) after his owner turned them in as an unexpected litter. I so hope he got the mom spayed, he did keep her.
She was a Blue Heeler and he said one of the dads was a chihuahua. I thought Tugboat was the runt, but then figured out his size is the chihuahua influence. When even his female littermates weighed 2
lbs., he was barely 1 lb.

(His 2 sisters Mandy and Pandy are still up for adoption. They are stunning looking, look like long haired miniature Blue heelers at 15 lbs each. Yes, I have pictures.)

Precious Dog Faces in Houston

These faces grabbed my attention, all for different reasons. The retriever at the top was patiently waiting for his owner who was in a donut shop near Tomball; I am very partial to older dog faces.
Pancho on the left has just about one of the neatest faces I have ever seen on a dog! He did not want his picture taken and his owner was very patient while I tried repeatedly to get Pancho to look ..just for a second!
The tiny chi girl on the right had the sniffles and her owner was looking for a vet; I so hope she found one
for this little pink princess.

Windsor, a Houston rescue dog needs a home

This precious boy has questionable ancestry, but a touch of Schnauzer is in there somewhere!
He is about 4 years old and weighs 10 lbs;I am fostering him. He is very quiet and reserved inside, which is how I came up with his name. He would be fine as an only dog
or with others.
From this picture he looks like a Klingons pet dog!

Kitty Walk strollers are for the dogs, say chihuahuas

Of course this wonderful invention was intended for cats to be able to go outside without "going outside", but small dogs love them also. I would say up to about 15 lbs; it is pretty strong.
It was impossible to get an entire chihuahua body to stay up front in the stroller long enough to get a good picture, but they do love these! What's not to like says the "rodent" crew at my house? The pet is protected, can't escape and a human does all of the work.

These are also neat as the carriage(basket) part is removeable and it all folds up nicely. The
door features 3 strong metal twist closures so no chance of accidental escape due to vibration.

I have seen these on the Internet at 130.00 but now 65.00 at Pet Stuff Resale.

Denim jacket perfect spring doggie wear

Moe's future is certainly brighter than his past. His owner never put him on heartworm prevention
and instead of neutering him, swatted him when he marked in the house. As a result he is very head shy and was quite hostile when approached at Citizens for Animal Protection after he was left there.
To quote an employee "He wants to bite my face".

In 24 hours he had calmed down and in 48 hours he was neutered, so now he is up for adoption
to an all adult quiet home. He weighs about 11 lbs and is listed as a Basenji/chi mix, about 4 years old.

His tail normally curls and he has become affectionate.

Happily Moe tested negative for heartworms and of course was immediately put on prevention.

He is content to wear outfits and doesn't feel too manly for this shade of blue denim. It could also
fit a slightly larger dog and how do I put this delicately? It would be better for a female dog. It stays shut with velcro and washes easily. The little tabs in the back are real, not just faux ones. The jacket is 5.00 at Pet Stuff Resale

Pet Stuff Resale small dog snuggly things-PART 2

This is a child's sleeping bag made of the same parachute material as the jacket in the previous post. My small foster
dogs jockey for position the second this hits the floor! Folded up, it makes for wonderful burrowing.
Both of these girls will be available
after their terrible skin conditions improve, they have made rapid progress since I picked them up. The one on the left also has to be treated for heartworms and they do not need to be placed
together. Their working names are Cutie and Tootie.

Pet Stuff Resale tip for small dogs-snuggling material

This is Tootie-she and another chihuahua came into rescue with such terrible skin condition it will be months before they are available for adoption. Like true small dogs, they immediately took to burrowing and loved my jacket. If I'm on the floor playing with them, another chi will trying to climb in behind me thru the armholes. (I can't get a picture of that!)

I buy items like this with the parachute material in the summer months to use with the tiny dogs all year round. In keeping with recycling and saving money I like to share these tips
with pet owners.

Custom Pet Steps for sale at Pet Stuff Resale

These are so nicely made and better yet, not plastic! The treads are removeable for toy storage but are made so they are still very stable while in place so your baby will not trip and fall off. Top height is 15".
I do not recommend dogs being allowed on the bed due to the dominance problems it creates but certainly understand the looks I get when I utter such blasphemy to clients! (Ask dog trainers)

Unusual pet beds for small critters at Pet Stuff Resale

One of the fun things about what I do is finding unexpected uses for pet items or non pet items recyled into pet items. I once sold an oval cat bed for an oppossum(I don't recommend wild animals as pets) and sold a huge finch flight cage
to be used as a nice snake habitat.
Here are a couple of my recent finds. I purchased the chairs as a chihuahua "throne"
as they often like to curl up into teeny teeny balls. To my surprise, several of the cats LOVED it the long way. My huge male was falling out of all sides but wouldn't leave until a female bullied him out. No one wanted to pose in the chair at either angle; camera came up for a shot and off they bolted, many times!
The child foam cube is a hit with every chihuahua that tested it; in fact
I have no cat data on this item because as everyone knows chihuahuas are not to be displaced from a favorite anything by a mere cat!
The foam chair is 10.00, the plaid chair is 8.00.
